Busy bodies

So what did I do yesterday? Umm pretty much nothing. What did I do today...pretty much anything, and everything. I would like to know why everything has to happen all at once. Its kinda like when you go shopping, and no one is at the cash register than when your ready to check out, so is everyone else and their Mama! Kay anyways.
Today we went on a field trip with Hayden's preschool group. First we went to Cerreta's chocolate factory, and they gave us a tour. It was mildly interesting. Best part: they gave us a ton of samples!! And they even let the kids fill up chocolate moulds, and they had each one make bacon and eggs. It was cute, it was stick pretzels, which were the bacon, with white chocolate poured on top, the egg whites, then two yellow M&Ms on top of that to be the yolk. Yumm, the kids loved it. Then after that we went to Pratt's Feed, which is a pet store. They gave us a tour there as well. They let the kids feed the goats, and pet ducks. The guy even fed a mouse to a snake. It was one of the most disgusting things ever. If you've never seen a snake squeeze the life out of a mouse, and then see him open his giant mouth around the lifeless thing, with its innards all hanging out...you are not missing out. Trust me. I thought I had been missing out, but no, that was something I could have lived with out seeing. I thought for sure that it would upset Hayden, and I kept waiting for him to turn to me with tears glistening in his eyes to ask why the mean old snake had to do that, but oh no. All the boys were shouting with excitement, Go snake, kill him!! And they had this giant turtle, that the kids got a kick out of. Anyway this place was really cool, and I totally recommend checking it out. After that we went out to lunch. Hayden has such a fun group of boys that he has been able to become friends with, and on top of that all the Moms are awesome too.
Next Ethan had scouts. We did it at the firehouse so that the kids could practice lowering and raising the flag, its one of the things they need to pass off. Then the firemen gave us a tour of the firehouse. AND then we walked across the street for ice cream at Sonic.
Man oh man, it was such a long day.
BUT A GREAT DAY, maybe even the BEST day ever! I love my boys, and I am so grateful I can be with them, to have all these crazy adventures!

Sorry no pictures of the snakes, I forgot my camera. But aren't those scouts so handsome! Posted by Picasa

Red Carpet

My twilight crazed sister went to the premiere of Twilight yesterday. They got there at some absurd time like 5 Am. Ya, that's dedication, considering it takes about two hours to get there! They were like number 250 in line. She said people started getting their at 7 am Sunday morning! They were only letting 700 people stand on one side of the carpet to watch the stars go into the premiere. They got free shirts and bracelets (that makes it worth it right there!). They were so excited to be there. Isn't she such a cute Mom to take her two daughters, on a school day mind you, to see their favorite stars! I thought so, wish I could have been there. Oh well, I guess I will have to settle with seeing them on the big screen Friday night (and I am so excited!!)! Check out my sisters blog, here, to see her pics!

A new tradition

The Veteran's Parade was amazing. (Maybe just because I didn't have anything to compare it to?) But I actually had a lump in my throat the whole time. It was so moving to see how involved the community was, and of course all the cute old (and there were some young ones too) veterans waving all proudly. I am so proud to be an American, and I know for the most part I take this for granted, but its days like these that I feel it through and through. After 9/11 there was a commercial on TV, where it showed a row of houses, and then it showed that same row of houses after 9/11, and each one had the American flag hung. It was about how terrorism didn't break us, it only made us stronger.
It was so funny one of the floats had a bunch of scouts and they were all chanting USA. And Hayden leans over to me and says "hey they are singing a letter song!" I guess we need to have a little chat about that! We are definitely making this a new tradition.

Family

My Mom came out to visit a couple weeks ago for Halloween. We had such a great time. On Saturday just my Mom and I went shopping to hit all the Halloween sales, and to Paradise Bakery for lunch. It was so great. She put everything she kinda liked in her basket, because its a little crazy, there are so many people, we are all shoulder to shoulder practically, so if you want it you grab it! Then after both our carts were full, she went through all her stuff, and put back like more than half the stuff! She's so funny to shop with.
While we were spending all our money, the boys went dirt bike riding, and then we all went out to the lake. Can we pack any more into this day?? Yes, how about a fabulous dinner, stir fry, all fresh, and delicious. Yea, that's how we show our guests a good time. We wear them out, feed them, and then send them packing.
On Sunday my mom and I made a lemon meringue pie! You see she only eats sugar once a week, can you believe that? So she wanted something extra good, so we went through my dessert cook books and decided on this. I love anything with meringue! With the left over pie crust she showed my boys one of her traditions that she had with her Mom, you cover the dough with cinnamon and suger then roll it up. So good. See the pic of Hayden eating the sugar with a spoon! Yuck. And then we also made a mini Thanksgiving dinner since we wont be together for the holiday. It was a great, and busy weekend!

Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Its just laid back, everyone is happy, there isn't that same pressure to make everything perfect, anything you do is just meant to be fun. I love being able to see all my neighbors, well usually meet the neighbors, because this pretty much is the only time people actually come out of their house to say hi. Our neighborhood did a huge block party. I organized the mummy game, and helped with the pumpkin bowling game. There was a big barbecue, jolly jumps, a haunted house, pumpkin contest, and a ton of other stuff. It was so great. The kids got to run around and play with all their friends.
So you cant really tell what Ethan is, he is a stick figure, you can see it better when its dark, because those are glow sticks sewed to his clothes. I had to do it right before we went out because I had to activate the glow sticks in order to get them on his clothes. It was such a pain, I will never do something that has to be made on Halloween because it was a little rushed trying to get everyone fed, and the luminaries all lit on the walkway, and everything. So I went out and bought the boys their costumes for next year! At half off! That's one less thing to worry about. (And I do worry all year about what to make. But not this year!)
